Windows Update Failing (Windows 10)
Try this. Follow the instructions on each step.
Locate the CMD.EXE and run it as an Administrator.
At the DOS prompt execute this command in bold .
net stop wuauserv
Renames the C:\Windows\ SoftwareDistribution folder to C:\Windows\ SoftwareDistribution.old , essentially clearing the Windows Update download cache so that it can start over.
Restart the Windows Update service net start wuauserv
Restart the computer normally.
