What is 5G?

5G is the 5th generation of cellular technologies as standardized by the 3GPP. Its aggressive goals are to address the various issues that have developed due to the wild popularity of 4G LTE, including the need for higher bandwidth, lower latency, and higher connection density.

How fast is 5G?

5G performance will be extremely fast when compared to current wired and wireless technologies. 5G is expected to be 10-100 times faster than 4G depending on the implementation by a given mobile network operator (MNO). The current speed record for 5G is 32 Gbps in laboratory conditions.

When is 5G available?

5G will be available as initial launches in the second half of 2018 in the US, with expanded deployments in 2019 and broad availability in 2020.

4G vs 5G
